WHAT IS CHEMIOSMOSIS?
OVERVIEW
Chemiosmosis is one of the final stages of cellular respiration that takes the protons from FADH and NADH and uses their electrical charge to power the synthesis of ATP.
Watch the video above for a brief overview of the events leading up to and including chemiosmosis!
"A splendid process... never before have I been able to produce so much ATP until chemiosmosis."

STEPS
CHEMIOSMOSIS AND THE ROLE OF ATP SYNTHASE
Where concentration of H+ ions increases in the outer compartment of the mitochondria.
|
Where the protons diffuse through ATP synthase down the proton gradient.
|
Where energy harvested from the flow of H+ is used to synthesize ATP.
